Which UK Loyalty Cards Offer the Best Deals?

Rebecca Bebbington·Mar 31, 2025

From discounts and special offers to cashback and free products – Loyalty Schemes can make a real difference to your shopping bill.

Loyalty cards and reward apps have been around for years, but recently, more brands than ever have jumped on board, offering exclusive perks for customers who sign up.

In some cases – like the Tesco Clubcard – it’s now cheaper to be a member than not, with significant price differences between Clubcard holders and non-members. But with so many loyalty schemes, which truly offer the best deals?

We’re breaking down the top UK loyalty cards, revealing hidden rewards you might not know about and helping you decide which are worth signing up for!

What’s In This Guide?

How Do Loyalty Schemes Work?

Loyalty Programmes typically work by rewarding customers for repeat shopping. As well as an initial discount for signing up, loyalty schemes work by offering points, cashback or discounts each time you make a purchase. These points can then be redeemed for vouchers or money off future orders! Some schemes also come with extra benefits such as:

  • Exclusive member-only discounts
  • Early access to sales
  • Free shipping or special promotions

How to Save the Most with Your Loyalty Rewards

There are certain strategies you can follow to get the most out of your loyalty rewards. We’ve listed the top ways you can use your points to save the most while shopping:

Stack discounts

Certain retailers allow you to stack loyalty discounts with other deals to save even more. For instance, you can combine Clubcard prices with Tesco sales for bigger savings.

Use online shopping perks

Some loyalty schemes allow you to collect points at partner stores and other online retailers. For example, you can collect Nectar points when shopping online at eBay and Argos. Plus when shopping online, loyalty programmes often give you access to perks like free delivery and gifts.

Convert your points to higher value

Some points are worth more when redeemed on selected products or experiences. For instance, you can often redeem the same amount of points for a higher value on travel. Make sure you explore all the ways your points can be used before redeeming them to get the most out of your rewards.

Take advantage of birthday rewards

Many programmes offer birthday freebies or bonus rewards as standard on member’s birthdays. To make the most of these free gifts, make sure you enter your birthday when completing your membership profile. You’ll usually receive a notification or email in the days leading up to your birthday with a free discount code or deal for money off your next order.

On top of loyalty rewards, there are tons more ways you can save money online you probably don’t know about. Check out our latest guide where we’ve unlocked hidden savings you can make when shopping online.

Loyalty Schemes to Avoid

Although a lot of companies offer loyalty schemes these days, not all provide great value. We recommend being cautious of programmes that offer:

  • Very low point values: Some bank rewards require high spending for minimal returns.
  • Quick-expiry points: Check how long you have to redeem points before they disappear.
  • Complicated redemption processes: If it’s too much effort to use your rewards, it may not be worth signing up.
  • Rewards for a high joining fee: Before signing up for what seems like a free scheme, make sure you read the small print. Some retailers offer loyalty memberships for a pricey annual or monthly fee without making this clear during sign-up.

Are Loyalty Schemes Worth It?

Yes. Most loyalty schemes are 100% worth it, especially if it’s a store you shop at all the time. For very little effort – in most cases just scanning a barcode at the checkout – you can earn points every time you shop that can quickly add up to rewards.

Supermarket rewards are especially great as they can be earned and used on an array of products including weekly groceries.

We’d recommend joining the loyalty schemes of your favourite stores that you spend the most money at. Combining multiple schemes with discount codes and promotions can also help you get the best deals on your everyday purchases.
