10 Ways to Save when Booking your next Holiday

Rebecca Bebbington·Dec 5, 2024

If the chilly British winter has you dreaming of a sun-soaked getaway, NetVoucherCodes is here to make it happen without breaking the bank.

Our team of money-savers has uncovered the best and most cost-effective times for booking your upcoming holidays! Plus, we’re sharing our top tips to help you cut costs while planning stress-free travel.

Whether you’re gearing up for a 2025 adventure or even looking ahead to 2026, holiday planning doesn’t have to be overwhelming – or expensive. With the right approach, you can save hundreds, enjoy better deals, and even have the convenience of spreading out payments. Whether your heart is set on sandy beaches, bustling cities, or peaceful countryside retreats, smart timing can make all the difference and we’re here to help.

1. Book Early for the Best Deals

2026 might seem a lifetime away, but trust us when we say – booking in advance comes with some exciting benefits! Many travel companies these days open bookings for flights & packages up to 18 months in advance, giving you access to the best prices and availability.

As well as lower prices, when you book early, you can secure your holidays with lower deposits, and enjoy longer repayment terms. Plus, airlines & hotels often offer their best prices when bookings open. The longer you wait and availability decreases – prices go up!

Plus, there’s nothing better than sitting back and knowing you secured your preferred destination, dates and accommodation before the popular options sold out!

2. Make sure you book at the right time

Timing is everything when it comes to booking holidays. We’ve found that September is usually the best month of the year to secure savings on your getaways as this is when there are the most travel discount codes available.

October and November are also up there, allowing you early access to Black Friday deals. Around Black Friday you’ll find huge savings on flights and package holidays including winter sun getaways and trips for the following summer.

To make sure you don’t miss out on any of these offers we recommend bookmarking key sales periods and subscribing to newsletters from travel providers to get seasonal exclusive offers sent straight to you.

3. Get your flights in plenty of time

Booking flights within the right timeframe can also make a huge difference to your holiday costs. You’ll usually get the best prices on domestic flights when you book 1-2 months in advance. While, for international flights, it’s always best to book 4-6 months ahead or up to 12 months for peak seasons like summer holidays.

It can be hard to keep track of airfare price drops so we suggest setting up fare alerts on platforms like Skyscanner and Google Flights to keep an eye on price drops throughout the year.

4. Take advantage of seasonal sales

Seasonal sales are an excellent opportunity to lock in discounts on your next holiday. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are some of the best times to book with discounts of up to 50% on flights, hotels and holiday packages. However, another great time that not many people know about is Travel Tuesday. Taking place the day after Cyber Monday, this day usually offers further discounts on travel so it’s well worth having a look.

For exclusive access to Black Friday travel discounts make sure you sign up for early deals and be ready to book as soon as sales go live to secure the best rates.

5. Travel Off-Peak for Bigger Savings

Travelling during off-peak seasons is a great way to enjoy big savings on popular travel destinations. Planning your holiday outside school holidays and half-term breaks is one of the easiest ways to save money, as prices tend to skyrocket during these peak times! Planning your trip for off-peak seasons isn’t just cost-effective, but means fewer crowds and a more relaxed experience.

For Europe, the best deals are usually found between November and March, avoiding the Christmas rush. Southeast Asia is perfect in May or June, just before the rainy season kicks in, while January and February are ideal for exploring cities in the USA, with fewer tourists and better prices.

By thinking carefully about when you travel, you can enjoy all the perks of your dream holiday – without the stress of inflated prices or overcrowded destinations.

6. Use Discount Codes

Using discount codes is a quick and easy way to save money on your holiday bookings, and NetVoucherCodes is the perfect place to find them! With frequent offers on flights, hotels, and travel packages, you can enjoy instant savings on everything from a last-minute city break to your dream getaway from top travel supplies like Tui, Jet2Holidays and Easyjet Holidays.

Booking your next trip doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Whether it’s flights, a stay at your favourite hotel, or a holiday package, NetVoucherCodes has you covered. And with a voucher code saving, there’s more room in your budget for the things that really matter!

7. Bundle Flights and Hotels for a Better Deal

Oftentimes, booking flights and hotels together in a package is much more cost-effective. Travel retailers like easyJet Holidays and TUI offer competitive rates for bundled deals and even include extras like child places, luggage and transfers! We always recommend looking for packages that include these additional benefits as, on their own, they can add a couple of hundred pounds onto your booking total. All-inclusive packages also offer great value for money especially when booking for a family at a popular resort.

8. Be Flexible with Dates and Airports

Being flexible can also help you unlock additional savings. If flights are coming up pricey, try adjusting your travel dates to off-peak times. Flying midweek, usually on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, is much cheaper than weekends. Considering alternative or smaller airports can also help reduce costs. This may add a couple of hours onto your journey but if it saves you a couple of hundred pounds, it may be worthwhile.

9. Join Loyalty Programs and Use Travel Rewards

Travel loyalty programmes are great for accumulating discounts and free travel. Loads of airlines offer flyer programmes such as British Airways’ Avios. Hotel chains like Hilton and Marriott also provide rewards schemes that allow you to collect points for discounts on future stays.

Travel-focused credit cards are also good for collecting cashback and points. Some cards even give you access to discounts on things like airport lounges.

10. Stay Updated on Travel Policies

Staying clued up on airline and hotel cancellation policies can save you from losing money if your plans change. Opt for flexible fares or travel insurance to protect your bookings.

Many airlines now also offer free changes or credits for future travel so make sure you keep an eye out for these incentives to keep your booking protected.
