As Managing Director, what does your day-to-day look like?
I’m a creature of habit. I get up early each day around 6 am and do an hour's work, whilst having a couple of coffees & a banana to kick start my day. Then I do an hour or so in the gym before heading into the office.
That first hour is key, as I plan my priorities for the day and get through lots of tasks that would otherwise build up during the day. As MD, I wear many hats within my role as I need to interface with each department, understand current KPIs, resolve any issues and ensure future goals are on track.
What career path did you take to get to where you are today?
I started in IT support fixing users' monitors and keyboards etc. I have always been interested in computer programming having done it at A-Levels. Whilst doing IT Support, I got chatting with a senior developer one day about my love for programming. He mentioned it to the head of the department where I was working and they put me on an advanced COBOL programming training course.
From there, over the years, I worked my way up to supervisor level and then on to IT Development Manager. Following the acquisition of the travel company I worked for, I decided to set up my own business, originally in the cashback market. As the cashback market changed, the board took the decision to focus more on the voucher code niche and so NetVoucherCodes.co.uk was born!
What’s the best saving you have ever made?
The best saving I’ve ever made was £400 (£100PP) on an all-inclusive holiday to Spain. The best thing about it was the holiday was already discounted, so the discount code saving on top was a bonus!
