How we save money when booking a hotel
We’re all about finding the best deals, but you don’t always need a promo code to save on hotel bookings. Over the years, we’ve picked up a few tricks that help us cut the cost of a stay - even if there’s no discount code available or it can’t be applied to certain offers.
One of the easiest ways to save is by being a bit flexible. Moving your stay by just a day can make a huge difference, especially if you’re travelling midweek. We’ve seen the same hotel drop by 30% just by switching from a Friday to a Sunday night. And if you’re happy to stay just outside the city centre or opt for a lesser-known area, you’ll often find much better value without sacrificing comfort.
Another tip we always use is the free cancellation loophole. Book a refundable rate early (especially if there's a sale on), then check back every couple of weeks. If the price drops, just cancel and rebook. We’ve done this loads of times and saved £50+ without lifting a finger.
And finally - don’t forget the apps and loyalty programmes.
